A lawsuit alleging that a large city landlord illegally raised rents in regulated apartments can proceed, a judge in state Supreme Court ruled last week.
A group of tenants sued A&E Real Estate Holdings, owner of more than 100 apartment buildings in the city, in 2016, accusing the firm of faking or inflating the cost of apartment renovations to push up regulated rents.
