Chandigarh district court releases alleged as witnesses turn hostile in rioting case
Five individuals involved in a case related to rioting and trespassing have been released.
The Chandigarh district court has released Sohan Singh, Mohinder Kaur, Major Singh, Jeet Sigh and Jaspal Singh. All of them lived in Khuda Ali Sher, Chandigarh.
Ganga Singh, was another alleged individual, who died during the pendency of the case after which proceedings against him were dismissed.
The issue dates back to May 26, 2011 when the alleged persons were booked by the police.
The police had booked all the alleged persons under sections 147(Punishment for rioting),148 (Rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (Every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 325 (Punishment for voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 452 (House-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restrain) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Co...
