HSBC should look within for new chief executive

Mark Tucker, the former chief executive of insurer AIA, joined HSBC's board on Friday before taking over from Douglas Flint as chairman on October 1. His first task will be to appoint a successor to Stuart Gulliver, who is due to step down next year. Tucker is expected to make a decision on who will be HSBC's next chief executive by the end of the year.
