JEAN FRYDMAN, who has died aged 95, was a hero of the French Resistance during the Second World War, and later played a central role in exposing the role of former Nazi sympathisers at the head of the French cosmetics company L'Oréal - revelations which also fuelled interest in the murky past of France's Socialist president François Mitterrand.
