After spending four years helping the Dallas Bar Association acquire and restore the Belo Mansion for its new headquarters, Dallas attorney Robert Hyer Thomas needed a new project. One of the partners at his firm — Strasburger & Price — told him as much when renovations at the mansion finished in 1979.
