Sarkozy on trial for millions spent on failed election bid
NICOLAS SARKOZY, the former French president, was on trial yesterday over claims of illicit financing for a failed reelection bid, two weeks after his conviction for corruption.
Sarkozy, 66, became the first French post-war president to be given a prison sentence when he was sentenced to three years, two suspended, for corruption and influence peddling on Mar 1.
