State, UAW kick off contract negotiations
With a ceremonial handshake across the table, the State of Michigan and its largest employee union kicked off negotiations Friday morning, with no decision yet made on coordinated bargaining.
"We hope that we have some productive negotiations, and we look forward to working with you," said UAW Local 6000 President Ed Mitchell. The union represents nearly 17,000 state workers in human services and administrative support jobs.
