The Mideast crisis gave oil stocks a boost, but the initial thrill appears to be gone. Oil stocks enjoyed a sharp price run-up from mid-July to mid-August in response to rising oil prices. The Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, which was devastating to most stocks, generated a buying wave in oil stocks.
