David Blackmore, the president of Tim Hortons USA who was in metro Detroit last week to promote the company's Camp Day fund-raiser, never planned to be a fast-food executive.
The Canadian was a biology major at the University of Guelph. But, to help pay the bills while in school, he said, he took jobs managing restaurants. After graduating, he interviewed for positions in the medical field. The offers were for less money than what he was already earning.
