URSULA VON DER LEYEN, the Euro pean Commission president, drew more criticism yesterday after her spokesman blamed Valdis Dombrovskis, her trade commissioner, for the vaccine fiasco that led Brussels to threaten a hard border on the island of Ireland.
Mrs Von der Leyen's attempt to evade responsibility came amid rising anger in EU capitals at her "go it alone" tactics during last week's battle with AstraZeneca over the supply of its Covid vaccine.
