BARONESS Valerie Amos, 65, has worn many hats in a varied career. The former United Nations under-secretary-general's latest posting has, since 2015, been as director of the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS).
When she was named to the post, British newspaper The Guardian reported that Ms Amos "happily accepts the description of being a bureaucrat".
