Company Description

The Isabel Allende Foundation is guided by a vision of a world in which women have achieved economic and social justice. In service of this vision, we support nonprofits in Chile and California that provide vulnerable women and children access to healthcare, education, protection from violence and reproductive self-determination. Through its Espíritu Grants, the Foundation also supports a small number of organizations worldwide whose exemplary work is aligned with the Foundation’s areas of interest.Founded in 1996 to honor the author’s daughter, Paula Frias, who died at age 28, the Foundation has awarded grants to more than 100 nonprofits worldwide delivering life-changing—and often life-saving—care to hundreds of thousands of women and children.Grants are distributed annually and are funded from the proceeds of book sales. A partial list of donations and recipients is available at; for a more comprehensive inventory, please access publicly available tax returns.
