Biography

Adam Sullins is counsel in the firm’s Entertainment, Sports & Media Practice. With years of sports industry experience and contacts, Mr. Sullins represents clients in professional and collegiate sports, including teams, team owners and investors, leagues and associations, television networks and media companies, technology companies, corporate sponsors, content owners, licensees, television networks and athletes. He advises on a full spectrum of matters, including the acquisition/sale of professional sports franchises, broadcast and new media transactions, corporate sponsorship and endorsement deals, licensing, and strategic ventures.

Mr. Sullins was formerly the Vice President and General Counsel for The Upper Deck Company, a leading sports and entertainment trading card, collectibles and memorabilia company. He oversaw the company’s business and legal affairs, including licensing, acquisitions and other ongoing matters. The matters frequently involved professional sports leagues, players’ associations, prominent individual athletes from the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, PGA and LPGA, and various sports companies and talent agencies.

Mr. Sullins’ recent experience includes representing clients in the following areas:

Sports Media

Atairos Group in its acquisition of Learfield Communications, a provider of integrated marketing solutions in college sports
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the eight-year extension of its multimedia rights agreement with CBS Sports and Turner Broadcasting for the Division I Men’s Basketball Championship
Tencent Holdings Limited in its agreement to become the Exclusive Official Digital Partner of the NBA in China, as well as with respect to agreements with various other sports properties
NextVR in its agreements to produce and distribute virtual-reality coverage of various sporting events with parties such as Fox Sports, the NBA and the NFL
The International Olympic Committee in connection with the US$4.38 billion licensing of broadcast and new media rights in the United States, and in connection with various media, sponsorship and other matters
Univision Communications on its exclusive Spanish language broadcast rights for certain US Soccer and Major League Soccer matches and programming, as well as with respect to agreements with various other sports properties such as FIFA, UEFA and CONCACAF
Anaheim Ducks on its multi-year broadcast and media agreement with Fox Sports
Arizona Diamondbacks on its multi-year broadcast and media agreement with Fox Sports
Guggenheim Securities, LLC on the formation and launch of SportsNet LA, the Los Angeles Dodgers regional sports network
Warner Bros. in its agreement with NBA superstar LeBron James and his SpringHill Entertainment covering original digital content aspects of the agreement, including with respect to “Uninterrupted”
Dallas Stars on its multi-year broadcast and media agreement with Fox Sports
NBA superstar Kobe Bryant in a wide-ranging deal with China’s Alibaba Group and Sina Sports
NFL Players Incorporated in connection with various digital media, broadcast and television production endeavors
The fantasy sports service DraftKings, Inc. in its broadcast commercial agreements with ESPN, Fox and the NFL Network
NextVR in its agreements to produce and distribute virtual-reality coverage of various sporting events with parties such as Fox Sports
World Surf League on its multi-year television broadcast and digital streaming agreements with ESPN and YouTube
The Jockey Club on its multi-year agreement with Fox Sports for broadcast and media rights to certain horse racing events and related programming to be broadcast on Fox Sports 1
Hollywood producer/director Mike Tollin on the formation and launch of Mandalay Sports Media, a joint venture with Mandalay Entertainment Group
