Biography

Addison D. Braendel is co-chair of Baker & McKenzie’s global funds sub-group, and serves as a member of the Firm’s Global REITs and Global Funds steering committees. He also leads the Fund Formation team in North America. Mr. Braendel has nearly 20 years of experience representing some of the world’s largest sponsors and investors in fund documentation and investments.

Practice Focus

Mr. Braendel focuses his practice on private equity fund formation, with an emphasis on real estate assets. His experience in fund formation includes working on numerous funds of funds, as well as infrastructure funds, hedge funds, energy funds and debt funds. Mr. Braendel is also fluent in ’40 Act, ERISA, Advisers Act, REIT and related tax matters. His impressive track record includes advising investors with fund reviews and secondary purchases and assisting clients in matters related to sponsor insolvency, limited partner defaults and early termination events.

* Advise Invesco Institutional (N.A.) on the capital raise and formation of more than USD3 billion of core, value-add, CMBS debt and related funds.
* Advise The Townsend Group on fund formation, Adviser’s Act and fund investment matters.
* Advise AXA Private Equity on secondary purchase and US regulatory matters.
* Advise ATP Real Estate on fund investment.
* Advise Stoltz Partners on fund formation.
* Advise University of Pittsburgh endowment on fund investment.
* Advise ING Clarion, Gaw Capital, SteelRiver, Tiger, etc. on fund marketing in non-US jurisdictions (world sky).
