Biography

D. Alicia Hickok is a partner in the Commercial Litigation Practice Group. She joined the firm in 2002 following a clerkship with the Hon. Marjorie O. Rendell on the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

Alicia’s focus is on appellate practice, and she has argued before both federal and state appellate courts. She and Alfred Putnam successfully represented a client before the United States Supreme Court last term. She serves as Deputy Counsel to the Pennsylvania Appellate Court Procedural Rules Committee. She has made presentations throughout the state on Pennsylvania appellate practice and procedure, most recently presenting to the Pennsylvania State Trial Judges Conference in July. Alicia is an adjunct professor of Appellate Advocacy at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. She has authored CLE materials on appellate practice and procedure as well as articles and a chapter (co-authored with Alfred Putnam) in the PBI Third Circuit Appellate Practice Manual (2006), edited by James C. Martin and Nancy Winkelman.

Alicia has built upon her pre-law economic antitrust research experience with N/E/R/A to evaluate complex litigation questions at the trial level as well as on appeal. She recently completed a three-week trial in a high profile case involving the Pennsylvania Constitution.

In General. Alicia is a member of the firm’s Professional Development Committee, and she focuses on talent management for the Litigation group. For the American Bar Association, Alicia is co-chair of the Content Management Committee for the Litigation Section and a member of the Executive Board of the Council of Appellate Lawyers for the Judicial Division, as well as a member of the Steering Committee of the Death Penalty Representation Project and an American Bar Foundation Fellow. She is also a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Appellate Advocacy and Judicial Administration Committees. Alicia serves on the boards of Mendelssohn Club, Musicopia, and Greensgrow Philadelphia Project, Inc.
