Biography

Mr. Starker is chairman and president of Starker Forests, a family-owned timber company that owns and manages forest land in western Oregon. The company was founded in 1936 by Mr. Starker’s grandfather, T. J. Starker.

Mr. Starker has numerous civic and industry affiliations, including serving on the National Alliance of Forest Owners board, and the Oregon Forest Industries Council for over 25 years. Mr. Starker received the Oregon Forest Industries Council Service Award in 2007 and the 2012 State Forester’s Award from the Oregon Board of Forestry, along with his late brother, Barte Starker, ’72. Bond Starker is a member of the OSU Foundation Committee on Trustees. He also serves on the College of Forestry Board of Visitors and the Agricultural Research Foundation board. Mr. Starker is a former member of the Austin Family Business Program Advisory Council and the Forest Research Lab Advisory Committee. He and his brother were co-recipients of the OSU Alumni Association’s E. B. Lemon Distinguished Alumni award in 2011.

Mr. Starker earned his B.S. in forest management from Oregon State University in 1969.
