Betty C. Pang

Betty Pang is counsel in the San Francisco office of Latham & Watkins. Her practice focuses on health care, regulatory and corporate matters, including mergers, acquisitions and affiliations involving health facilities, physician groups and ancillary service providers. Dr. Pang handles a broad range of regulatory matters, including facility and provider licensing, fraud and abuse, self-referral and government program reimbursement compliance. Her clients include nonprofit, county and academic teaching hospitals and health systems, physician practice companies, health plans and clinical laboratories. Dr. Pang also provides regulatory counseling on third-party coverage and reimbursement issues for pharmaceutical, medical device and biotechnology companies and medical suppliers.

Dr. Pang is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and the American Bar Association Health Law Section, where she serves as the Vice-Chair of the Medical Research, Biotechnology and Clinical Ethical Issues Interest Group.

In connection with her transaction practice and general representation of health care industry clients, Dr. Pang also represents commercial lenders, private equity firms and investment banks in health care transactions, including the following matters:

US$3.2 billion acquisition by Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, of Emergency Medical Services Corporation, a leading national provider of facility-based physician services and medical transportation



US$230 million term loan and revolving credit facility for Aspen Dental Management, Inc., a dental services provider, in connection with its acquisition via leveraged buyout by Leonard Green & Partners L.P.



US$363 million acquisition by Leonard Green & Partners L.P. of Prospect Medical Holdings, Inc., a hospital operating company, from a publicly held company



SEK225 million Investment by Novo A/S into Denmark-based Aerocrine A/S, a medical technology company focused on the care of patients with inflammatory airway diseases, by way of a share subscription and convertible note issue
