Biography

Senator Chris Nybo has served in served in the Senate since August 2014. He is the Spokesperson for the Senate’s Financial Institutions Committee, and also sits on the Energy and Public Utilities, Judiciary, Revenue, Transportation, and Criminal Law committees. He has also been asked to serve on the Senate Special Committee on Oversight of Medicaid Managed Care.

He previously served in the House of Representatives, and before that was an Elmhurst Alderman.

In the Legislature, Nybo has successfully led efforts expanding the availability of life-saving allergy medicine for school children (known as the Epi-Pen Law), prohibiting politicians from putting their names and faces on taxpayer-funded signs (known as the Blagojevich Billboard Ban), and reforming Illinois’ workers’ compensation and pension laws.

Born in Elmhurst, Nybo is a lifelong resident of DuPage County. He graduated from Fenwick High School, Dartmouth College, and the University of Chicago Law School. He has served on the Board of the Ray Graham Association for People with Disabilities, has been a soccer referee and coach with AYSO, and has been actively involved with the Knights of Columbus and Immaculate Conception Parish. His commitment to community service led to his selection as a Harry S. Truman Scholar by the United States government.
