Biography

Craig Shaver is the Vice President of Development. He joined the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas November 2014. Craig’s YMCA background began when he was 6 years old. He started playing sports at the YMCA that lead him into being a full-time Y Kid. He spent a lot of his time at a local Y playing with friends, hanging out and just enjoying all the activities and programs that were available. He even continued to play sports at the Y throughout college. After his playing days, he had the privilege to coach youth basketball and football at the Y and then watch his own kids become part of the YMCA family.

Craig has had 14 years of experience in fund development with an emphasis on annual giving and capital campaigns. He began his development career as the Business Development Manager for Electronic Data Systems, where he managed corporate partnerships. He then transitioned into athletic administration working for Baylor University as the Director of Development for Athletics where he was responsible for raising funds for the athletic annual campaign as well as major building projects. He then moved on to work for Southern Methodist University as the Associate Athletic Director of Development, where he was responsible for annual giving as well as all capital projects. Craig’s final stop before working for the Dallas Y was as the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Development of the University of Texas at Arlington working as the lead for all of Athletic development.

Craig earned his Bachelor of Science in Education at Baylor University. He lives in McKinney, Texas, with his wife Melissa. They have three children: Caroline, Mackenzie, and Joseph.
