Edward J. H. Chung

Edward Chung is a Partner in the Firm's Corporate Department, with broad experience in various mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance transactions. In mergers and acquisitions, he has represented public and private companies in various industries, including technology, telecom, energy, transportation, financial institutions, asset management, retail, healthcare, media and information services, in domestic and cross-border transactions. He has also handled initial public offerings, high yield offerings, debt restructurings and spin-offs.

Ed is active in the Firm's Private Equity Practice, where he has handled numerous transactions for The Blackstone Group and First Reserve Corporation.

His transactions have included the representation of:

* CorpBanca S.A. in its merger with Banco Itaú Chile and its acquisition of Helm Bank S.A.;
* The Carlyle Group in its acquisitions of Vermillion Asset Management, Emerging Sovereign Group and Claren Road Asset Management;
* Mercantil Colpatria in joint ventures with AXA and Bank of Nova Scotia;
* Evercore Partners in its acquisition of ABS Asset Management;
* The Blackstone Group in the sale of its portfolio company Goldtoe Inc.;
* First Reserve in its acquisition of Keenan Energy;
* AIG in the sale of its Asia-Pacific real estate private equity business to Invesco;
* Iridium Communications in its merger with GHL Acquisition Corp.;
* Kocher Plastik Gmbh in the sale of Holopack International to Olympus Partners;
* Marathon Acquisitions Corporation in its merger with Global Ship Lease;
* Special committee of United Surgical in its acquisition by Welsh Carson;
* First Reserve in the sale of its portfolio company, Dresser, Inc., to an investor group led by Riverstone Holdings LLC;
* Information Services Group, Inc., in its acquisition of Technology Partners International;
* First Reserve in the sale of its portfolio company, Ohmstede Ltd., to EMCOR Group, Inc.;
* Sandridge Energy in its acquisition of NEG Oil & Gas;
* Toys “R” Us in its acquisition by Bain Capital, KKR and Vornado;
* The Blackstone Group in its acquisition of New Skies Satellites N.V.;
* The Blackstone Group in its acquisition of Vanguard Health Systems, Inc.;
* Harcourt General in its acquisition by Reed Elsevier Plc;
* Conectiv in its acquisition by Potomic Electric Power Company;
* General Instrument Corporation in its acquisition by Motorola;
* Symbol Technologies in its acquisition of Telxon Corporation; and
* AC Nielsen and Nielsen Media Research in their acquisitions by VNU N.V.

Ed joined the Firm in 1992 and was elected a Partner in 2000. He received an A.B. from Harvard College in 1988 and a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1992.
