Biography

Eliran Furman specializes in mergers and acquisitions transactions, corporate and project financing, and represents Israeli and foreign companies, both private and public.

Due to the experience he acquired during his career (which included working as an attorney at the law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP in New York), Eliran's clients enjoy the benefits of his ability to proficiently handle complex international transactions and to navigate through foreign cultural differences.

Eliran's M&A practice focuses on representing large scale corporations and international conglomerates with prominent acquisitions and cross border transactions. He counsels his clients from the early stages of their initial interest in the acquisitions, through due diligence investigations and negotiations, and up to the final stages of executing and closing the transaction, after which he continues to provide his clients with ongoing corporate counseling.

Eliran also specializes in corporate finance. With a background in representing some of Israel's leading financial institutions as well as international banks in complex financing transactions, and with his thorough understanding of the bank’s state of mind and working methods, Eliran is highly proficient in managing complicated large scale corporate financing transactions.

Eliran represents banks and companies in project finance transactions, a complex practice which involves many parties with different agendas, and often, conflicts of interest.

Eliran also heads the firm’s Japan Practice Group together with Peter Sugarman.

Eliran joined the firm as a partner in 2011.

Eliran received his law degree (cum laude) from Haifa University in 2000, a B.A. in Economics from Haifa University in 2001, and an LL.M. from New York University School of Law in 2005.

Eliran was admitted to the Israel Bar in 2001 and to the New York Bar in 2006.

Founded in 1835, New York University School of Law has a record of academic excellence and national scholarly influence. One of the first law schools to admit women, it has been long committed to welcoming students of diverse backgrounds, people who had been discriminated against by many other institutions. Located on the University's campus in Greenwich Village, NYU Law has been a leader, and continues to be, in areas such as law and business, clinical education, public service, interdisciplinary colloquia and global studies.

The campus of the University of Haifa spreads along a Carmel Mountain ridge southeast of the city of Haifa and is surrounded by the Carmel National Park. The University was established in 1963 under the joint auspices of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Haifa Municipality. In 1972, it gained academic accreditation as a separate institution from the Council for Higher Education. The University of Haifa is the most pluralistic institution of higher education in Israel: sons and daughters of both veteran cities and development towns, kibbutzim and moshavim, new immigrants, Jews, Arabs, and Druzes, IDF officers and security personnel—all sitting together on the bench of knowledge in an atmosphere of coexistence, tolerance, and mutual respect. The University considers the link between academic excellence and social responsibility as its flagship, and service to the community as one of its important goals. Some 17,000 students are studying toward a degree (B.A., M.A., or Ph.D.) in 2008/09. The University offers six Faculties: Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences and Science Education, Law, Social Welfare and Health Studies, and Education; and five Schools: Business Administration, Social Work, History, Public Health, and Political Sciences. Research is concentrated in centers and institutes on a wide variety of subjects and fields. Among them: study of psychological stress, information processing and decision-making, evolution, the Holocaust; maritime studies, natural and environmental resources, shipping and aviation, the family. Research facilities include The Jewish-Arab Center, Herzl Institute for the Study of Zionism and Israel, Study of Crime, Law, and Society, Study of Pilgrimage, Tourism and Recreation; Interdisciplinary Center for the Study of Emotions; International Brain and Behavior Research Center; Center for Democratic Studies; Center for Law and Technology; Center for Research of Education for Peace; Center for National Security Studies and Geostrategy. IBM put up its largest research center outside the United States on the University campus.

The New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) is a voluntary bar association for the state of New York. NYSBA was founded in 1877 with the stated goal to cultivate the science of jurisprudence; to promote reform in the law; to facilitate the administration of justice, and to elevate the standards of integrity, honor, professional skill, and courtesy in the legal profession. Its first President was David B. Hill. Among the reforms in the legislation signed into law creating the association was the removal of the restrictions on the admission of women to the practice of law. In 1896, NYSBA proposed the first global means for settling disputes among nations, what is now called the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague.
