His pragmatic client-focused approach and cross-discipline expertise enables him to understand and effectively execute upon his clients' unique business objectives. As a result, he is able to leverage his specific expertise to maximize value and achieve superior results for his clients.

With respect to real estate acquisitions and dispositions, Eric has significant experience representing developers, operating companies, institutional investors, banks, and specialty lenders in the investment in, and the remediation, ownership and redevelopment of, commercial real estate, including the brownfield redevelopment and repurposing of end-of-useful life industrial properties. Eric's commercial lending experience includes representing financial institutions in structuring, negotiating, and documenting commercial loan transactions, including asset-based loans, senior and mezzanine debt, acquisition financing, and bankruptcy exit financing. While his experience in commercial lending is wide ranging, he has specific expertise representing lenders in negotiating and restructuring troubled loans and in the enforcement of lenders’ and creditors’ rights and remedies, including Article 9 sales, commercial real estate foreclosures, receiverships, and assignments for the benefit of creditors. His experience also includes representing debtors in Chapter 11 bankruptcies and workouts, and representing strategic and financial buyers in the purchase and turnaround of distressed companies.

Eric is frequently invited to speak to groups of business professionals on the topics of commercial loan restructuring, alternative debt and finance, and acquisition and disposition of companies and commercial real estate. He has been distinguished as a top practitioner in commercial bankruptcy and restructuring by Chambers & Partners; by The Deal magazine as one of the nation’s Top Bankruptcy Attorneys, and as an Illinois Super Lawyer for multiple years.

Eric is also an active supporter and serves on the advisory board for the All Stars Project of Chicago, which is a not-for-profit organization that brings hope and opportunity to thousands of inner-city youth working to move them beyond the barriers of poverty.

The John Marshall Law School is a law school in Chicago, Illinois, that was founded in 1899 and accredited by the American Bar Association in 1951. The John Marshall Law School offers programs for both part-time and full-time students, with both day and night classes available, and offers January enrollment — choices most law schools no longer offer. John Marshall is located in Chicago's central financial and legal district, most commonly known as The Loop. It is across the street from the Dirksen Federal Building, which houses the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and about four blocks from the Daley Center, which houses the Cook County Courts. It is also next door to the Chicago Bar Association. The fall 2012 entering class had a median GPA of 3.29 and a median LSAT of 153.[2]
