BRIEF BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Irma Hilton received a PhD from Columbia University's Social Psychology Department in 1965. Her dissertation won the 1965 American Institute for Research Creative Talent Award. She was a postdoctoral fellow at NYU for the next three years working on children's social perceptions.
TEACHING AND RESEARCH INTERESTS
Hilton's research deals with the psychological issues in women's health, including eating disorders, causes of teenage pregnancy, the design of pregnancy prevention programs and the impact of child abuse. Her work has been quoted in several books, in Psychology Today and on NBC Television. She serves as an adviser to the Girls Clubs of America's National pregnancy prevention program and also serves on its national board. Hilton's current primary research interest is the challenge of balancing work and family.

Founded in 1831, New York University is now one of the largest private universities in the United States. The faculty, which initially consisted of fourteen professors and lecturers (among them artist and inventor Samuel F. B.
