Biography

Jamie Wine, a partner in the New York office of Latham & Watkins and a former member of Latham’s Executive Committee, is a leading securities lawyer according to The Legal 500 US. She has significant trial and arbitration experience, and specializes in complex business litigation, securities and class action litigation, and SEC and other regulatory investigations.

Ms. Wine has represented all of the major accounting firms and a number of financial institutions in a variety of matters, many emanating from the financial crisis. She currently represents Ernst & Young in all civil and regulatory matters related to its role as auditor of Lehman Brothers and represents Deutsche Bank in a number of actions regarding its RMBS business.

Ms. Wine is widely acknowledged for her excellence. In January 2011, The American Lawyer named Ms. Wine one of the “45 Under 45” top female lawyers in the AmLaw 200, and she has been listed as a leading securities litigation attorney by The Legal 500 US, as a “Legal Superstar” by SecuritiesLaw360, and by The Daily Journal as one of California's "Top Women Litigators." Ms. Wine was also named to the 2014 and 2015 editions of Lawdragon 500, a list of leading lawyers in America, where it was noted that she “has emerged as one of the top practitioners in complex business and securities litigation.”

Ms. Wine formerly was the Deputy Office Managing Partner of the New York office. She previously Co-chaired the firm's Securities Litigation and Professional Liability Practice and the Litigation Department in Los Angeles. She also is a former member of Latham’s Associates Committee and its Training and Career Enhancement Committee. Ms. Wine regularly speaks on law firm management and the role of women in the legal profession.

Representing Ernst & Young in all civil and regulatory matters related to its role as auditor of Lehman Brothers. Secured dismissal in the multi-district litigation of all Section 11 and most Section 10b claims. In re Lehman Brothers Secs. & ERISA Litig., 2011 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 82119 (S.D.N.Y. Jul. 27, 2011)
Representing Deutsche Bank in numerous federal and state actions across the U.S. related to its residential mortgage-backed securities business
Acted as lead trial counsel in successful arbitration of a multi-million dollar confidential tax shelter matter for one of the Big Four accounting firms
Won a trial victory, confirmed on appeal, for a KPMG audit partner, in an SEC proceeding alleging improper professional conduct related to Royal Ahold
Won summary judgment, affirmed on appeal, for Caesar’s Bahamas Investment Corp. (Harrah’s), in a dispute regarding a multi-billion dollar casino resort project. Caesar’s Bahamas Investment Corp. v. Baha Mar Joint Venture Holdings, Ltd., 2010 NY Slip Op 05868 (1st Dept., July 1, 2010)
