Honorary Member, Board of Directors at RedLine

RedLine was founded in 2008 by artist and philanthropist, Laura Merage as a way to support artists and build community in northeast Denver. Following the completion of a renovated space in Five Points, RedLine welcomed its first group of resident artists in the fall of 2008. The organization has grown rapidly over the last half decade, integrating youth education and community outreach with the artist residency and exhibitions. Over the past year, RedLine has welcomed more than 30,000 visitors and engaged more than 2,500 program participants as they continue to work toward a vision of empowering everyone to create positive change through art. RedLine Contemporary Art Center fosters education and engagement between artists and communities to create positive social change. Founded in 2008, RedLine was created in response to a lack of support for emerging artists and a dearth of creative opportunities for local residents. RedLine supports a thriving group of resident artists and provides programming that responds to the needs of the varied communities that live in the surrounding neighborhoods. RedLine was intentionally built in Five Points, a neighborhood that has experienced considerable population displacement over the last decade. Viewing art and arts education through a lens of social issues, the organization ensures equitable access to the arts for under-resourced populations by working to fulfill a vision of empowering everyone to create social change through art.

Since launching in 2006, the coalition's bipartisan ranks have grown to more than 725 mayors from more than 40 states, and the statement of principles has been endorsed by major national organizations such as the US Conference of Mayors and the National Conference of Black Mayors.
