Biography

Kathi A. Ketcheson, Ph.D., earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Washington in 1979, a Master's of Public Administration from Portland State University in 1983, and a Ph.D. in Urban Studies from PSU in 1996. In 1985, she joined Portland State as a Research Analyst in Institutional Research and Planning, and was promoted to Director in 1998. She is an Associate Research Professor with a courtesy teaching appointment in the Department of Public Administration, Hatfield School of Government. From 1998 to 2001, Dr. Ketcheson directed the University's Institutional Portfolio Project, a national project funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts and sponsored by the American Association for Higher Education. She has published and presented widely, both nationally and internationally, on the topic of institutional portfolios in accreditation, assessment, and accountability and frequently serves as a consultant to other higher education institutions in the development of portfolios and in program evaluation and assessment. The portfolio, under Dr. Ketcheson's direction, served as the institution's electronic self-study for re-accreditation by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities in 2005.

During 2006-2007, Dr. Ketcheson served as Presiding Officer of the Portland State Faculty Senate, and President of the Portland State Chapter of Phi Kappa Phi. She has held the positions of Secretary, Vice President, President, and Past President of the Pacific Northwest Association for Institutional Research and Planning and served on the AIR/NCES/NSF Grant Review Panel for the national Association for Institutional Research.
