Biography

Kim is PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Global Advisory Risk & Quality Leader and Deputy Global General Counsel. In these roles, Kim focuses on quality initiatives and managing risk and legal issues for PwC’s Advisory practice across PwC’s global network. Kim also serves as the San Francisco Market Black/African American Affinity Circle Partner Champion. Kim previously served in PwC’s U.S. Office of the General Counsel advising the Advisory and Assurance businesses. Before joining PwC, Kim was a commercial and securities litigator with a large international law firm.

Kim grew up in Toronto, Canada. She has a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law where she was an editor of the California Law Review. Kim earned her A.B. in philosophy from Cornell University.

In 2012, the San Francisco Business Times named Kim as one of the 150 Most Influential Women in Business. In 2013, Kim was named California Law Review’s Alumna of the Year. In 2015, Kim became a member of the President’s Council of Cornell Women.

Kim serves on the boards of Legal Services for Children and the S.H. Cowell Foundation, both of whom focus on the needs of economically disadvantaged children. In 2013 Kim received Friends of Oakland Parks & Recreation’s annual Ann Woodell Community Award and was an honoree at the 2013 Oakland Parks and Recreation Salute to Excellence and Community Spirit. In 2016, Oakland Magazine recognised Kim and her husband for their volunteer and philanthropic work in the magazine’s annual Best of Oakland and East Bay edition.

The University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, commonly referred to as Berkeley Law and Boalt Hall, is one of 14 schools and colleges at the University of California, Berkeley. Berkeley Law is consistently ranked as one of the top law schools in the nation, with acceptance rates lower than every school except Yale and Stanford. The Department of Jurisprudence was founded at Berkeley in 1894. In 1912, the department was renamed the School of Jurisprudence, which was then renamed the School of Law in 1950. The School was originally located in the center of the main UC Berkeley campus in the Boalt Memorial Hall of Law, built in 1911 with funds largely from Elizabeth Josselyn Boalt donated in memory of her late husband, John Henry Boalt. In 1951, the School moved to its current location in the new Boalt Hall, at the southeast corner of the campus, and the old Boalt Hall was renamed Durant Hall. In April 2008, the law school rebranded itself from "Boalt Hall" to "Berkeley Law", in order to more closely tie the law school's name with the campus upon which it resides. The administration hopes that this move will further increase the law school's prestige, since people will now associate it with the Berkeley campus.
