Biography

Mr. Johnson is the Executive Vice President at Litholink Corporation in Chicago, Illinois.

Litholink is a national research and testing laboratory for metabolic disorders, chronic kidney disease, cardiovascular disease and other chronic diseases. Litholink is a wholly owned subsidiary of Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings, Inc., also known as LabCorp. of which Mr. Johnson also serves as the Associate Vice President and Strategic Director. Prior to his current positions, Mr. Johnson served as the Vice President of Managed Care at CNA Financial from 1998 through 2001, General Counsel and Group Vice President for Health Policy Advocacy for the American Medical Association from 1984 to 1997, and was a Partner at Sidley Austin LLP in Chicago, a firm that operates offices in 19 cities around the world.

Since 1995, Mr. Johnson has played an integral role in the direction of the Lurie Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, serving as a Board and Executive Committee member, and as Chairman of the Lurie Children’s Research Center for 20 years. He remains on the Board and is one of two outside directors of the Lurie Children’s Pediatric Faculty Foundation Board. He also served on the Board of the National Health Lawyers Association for many years where he served as Chairman of the Membership Committee, and on the Regional Board of UnitedHealthcare’s Children’s Foundation.

Mr. Johnson is regarded as one of the leading experts in the field of medical law and has contributed numerous articles for publication. Mr. Johnson was a featured speaker at the 1998 Healthcare Antitrust Forum at the Northwestern Kellogg School, the National Health Lawyers Association 1998 National Congress on Medicare Choice in Washington, D.C., and gave the Keynote address at the AMA’s Sesquicentennial Ethics Conference in Philadelphia, in March of 1997. He was the Lead Witness before the U.S. Congress Medicare+Choice Risk Adjustment Regulation Hearings in April of 1999. He served as the Editor for the reports of the American Medical Association’s Council of Ethical and Judicial Affairs, and the “Report of the Special Task Force on the National Tobacco Settlement Proposal” in July of 1997.

Mr. Johnson attended Dartmouth College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1969 with Distinction, and then the University of Chicago Law School, where he earned his Juris Doctor in 1973. He currently resides in Lake Forest, Illinois.
