Trinity was founded by Henry VIII in 1546, when he combined two existing colleges (King's Hall and Michaelhouse) and seven hostels (Catherine’s, Garratt, Gregory’s, Ovyng’s, Physwick, St Margaret's, and Tyler’s). Since then Trinity has flourished and grown, and is now a home to around 600 undergraduates, 300 graduates, and over 180 Fellows. Trinity exists to give its members a rewarding, richly resourced, and intellectually inspiring place in which to pursue their education and research. Princes, spies, poets and prime-ministers have all been taught here, and members of the College go on to a very wide range of professions and careers after taking degrees in all the subjects the University offers.

The Women and Public Policy Program of Harvard Kennedy School closes gender gaps in economic opportunity, political participation, health and education by creating knowledge, training leaders and informing public policy and organizational practices. Our research provides evidence-based insights on the role of gender in shaping economic, political and social opportunities available to individuals. We identify successful interventions and measure their impact on women, men, and society, then share recommendations on what policies, organizational practices and leadership techniques help close involuntary gaps.

Davos, Switzerland
2008 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting

The World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2008 convened in Davos at a time of great anxiety in the world. The turmoil in the financial markets and the continuing conflict in the Middle East were naturally of immediate concern. Mounting awareness of the epochal challenge of climate change and the looming threat of global terrorism, two issues that were addressed in the opening plenary session, heightened our shared sense of urgency. The Annual Meeting theme - The Power of Collaborative Innovation - was a fitting focus for two reasons. First, it highlighted that a multistakeholder approach is critical for any authentic and viable solutions to global problems. And second, it served to underline the need for new and imaginative ways to mitigate global risks and the importance of achieving tangible results or value.
