Managing Director

Leslie Harwood joined Newmark Grubb Knight Frank in 1993 as managing director specializing in tenant representation. Ms. Harwood represents many financial services firms in the Plaza District, confidently providing them with expert real estate services based on her more than 28 years of real estate experience. Known for her creative and broad perspective of the leasing environment, Ms. Harwood’s expertise lies in her ability to bring to her clients an entire transactional team backed with the full resources of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank. She has developed an extensive network of some of the best professionals in the commercial real estate field. Ms. Harwood has consistently negotiated for her clients' substantially below market rental rates. Tenants she has recently represented include NCH Advisors, ACI Capital, The Evelyn Lauder Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Venrock Inc., NARAL Pro-Choice New York, Gracie Capital, Seneca Capital, Lenox Hill Hospital, Cornell-Weill Medical Center, Aquiline Holdings, Petra Capital, Fila Korea, Alex Gorlin Architects, and Sidney Fetner Associates. Ms. Harwood has also provided to her clients excellent sales representation:

- Represented Lennox Hill Hospital in the disposition of assets at 213 East 63rd Street and 122 E 76th Street, representing approximately $70 million
- Represented Chilsfield USA in the acquisition and representation of four SoHo properties in addition to acquiring the successful management and leasing
- Principal of Partnership at 44th Street and 8th Avenue TA development site
- Presently on the development team of 1 Journal Square, Jersey City, New Jersey

In addition to her leasing and sales experience, Ms Harwood has developed 2 million square feet of residential housing and retail in the metropolitan area including 125 Hudson Street, 44th Street and Eighth Avenue, and the redevelopment of 1 million square feet in downtown Jersey City.

Prior to joining Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, Ms. Harwood was with GW Michaels, a small boutique firm specializing in office leasing.

In 1996, Ms. Harwood was the recipient of the Emma Lazarus Award for “Dynamic Women in Business” from the Associated Builders & Owners of Greater New York, in recognition of her many contributions to the real estate industry. In 1994, she was the guest of honor at the Inaugural Luncheon of the New Leadership Real Estate Cabinet of Israel Bonds for her dedication and commitment to raising money for Israel. In 1993, the Young Men’s/Women’s Real Estate Association honored her as the Young Real Estate Person of the Year for her integrity, knowledge and accomplishments in the field of real estate. In 1995, she won the Max Feld Industry Achievement Award awarded by Israel Bonds, which salutes service towards Israel's economic development.

Ms. Harwood is a former chairman of the Board of Directors of The Young Men's/ Women's Real Estate Association of New York, a member of the Economic Development Committee of the Real Estate Board of New York, Inc. She is co-chairman emeritus of the Real Estate New Leadership Division of the Development Corporation of Israel. She is a member of WX (Women Executives in Real Estate, New York). She is a member of the Women’s Executive Committee of the UJA. Ms. Harwood began the New Start Loan Fund, which provides micro lending to women in need. In 2007 she co-chaired the lunch for Planned Parenthood New York. She is involved in many philanthropic causes like Foundation House for the mentally challenged, and Joan’s Legacy, which is one of the leading organizations in lung cancer research.

She has three children and resides in New York.

Ms. Harwood is a graduate of the University of Miami.

The University of Miami is a private research university in Coral Gables, Florida. As of 2019, the university enrolls 17,811 students in 12 separate colleges/schools, including the Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine in Miami's Health District, a law school on the main campus, and the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science focused on the study of oceanography and atmospheric sciences on Virginia Key, with research facilities at the Richmond Facility in southern Miami-Dade County.
