Biography

Linda Schilling is a partner in the Litigation and Environment, Land & Resources Departments. She has broad experience in complex commercial and environmental litigation, with substantial expertise in disputes involving real property development, operations and contamination and related insurance coverage and cost recovery claims.

Ms. Schilling has successfully prosecuted and defended high-stakes, multi-party toxic tort lawsuits concerning indoor air and groundwater contamination, construction, engineering and design disputes and other complex commercial litigation.

Ms. Schilling has also provided pro bono legal assistance to clients throughout her extensive career for, among others, the Family Violence Project, the Public Law Center, Human Options and Orange County's other domestic violence shelters. Ms. Schilling is on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of Human Options.

Ms. Schilling is Co-chair of the Firm's Mentoring Committee and formerly served on the firm's Associates Committee, Pro Bono and Ethics Committees.

Ms. Schilling’s representative cases include advising/representing:

DataCard Corporation - Defending DataCard Corporation in a groundwater contamination toxic tort action brought by the Orange County Water District
Classic Residence by Hyatt - Successfully prosecuted cost recovery action on behalf of one of Classic Residence by Hyatt’s life care communities in connection with issues related to construction, engineering and design deficiencies, related contamination and other property damage, and insurance coverage cost recovery claims
Hilton Hotels Corporation - Successfully prosecuted litigation and secured insurance coverage on behalf of Hilton Hotels Corporation in connection with indoor air quality contamination and related property damage issues related to the discovery of mold growth
The Estate of James Campbell - Successfully defended and secured insurance coverage for the Campbell Estate in six litigation matters alleging personal injuries, business losses and property damage in connection with construction defects and related indoor air quality contamination claims arising at a commercial shopping center
Harrah’s Entertainment Group - Successfully prosecuted contamination cost recovery action against third parties on behalf of Harrah’s arising from indoor air quality contamination issues at hotel properties
