The Private Capital segment comprises four business lines: Private Equity, Mid-Market Asia, Ventures and Public Value. The Real Assets segment comprises two business lines: Infrastructure and Real Estate. The Credit segment comprises special situations, direct lending and senior debt. Business line Private Equity focuses on buyouts of medium to large sized companies active within Healthcare, TMT, Services and Industrial Technology in Europe and the US. The funds assume the position of chairperson. Business line Mid-Market Asia focuses on buyouts and growth equity investments in medium sized companies in Greater China and Southeast Asia. The funds seek a control or co-control stake and make equity investments in the range of between USD 30 million and 100 million. The funds have no specific industry focus. The funds assume the position of chairperson or in case of a co-control deal a seat on the board of directors. Business line Ventures focuses on early stage companies by employing a multi-stage strategy. The funds make equity investments ranging between EUR 1 million and 75 million, from late seed rounds all the way to growth rounds. The World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2008 convened in Davos at a time of great anxiety in the world. The turmoil in the financial markets and the continuing conflict in the Middle East were naturally of immediate concern. Mounting awareness of the epochal challenge of climate change and the looming threat of global terrorism, two issues that were addressed in the opening plenary session, heightened our shared sense of urgency. The Annual Meeting theme - The Power of Collaborative Innovation - was a fitting focus for two reasons. First, it highlighted that a multistakeholder approach is critical for any authentic and viable solutions to global problems. And second, it served to underline the need for new and imaginative ways to mitigate global risks and the importance of achieving tangible results or value.
