Biography

Morton H. Rothstein, PE, SE was the Chief Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineer at Burns and Roe Enterprises, Inc., the New Jersey based company that provides engineering, procurement, construction and operations services to private and government clients worldwide. In this capacity, for over thirty-seven years, Morton was responsible for all civil, structural and architectural engineering on an extensive and wide variety of capital projects. As the Chief Engineer, his projects included, among others: resource recovery plants for Combustion Engineering; combined cycle power plants for Calpine Corporation, Siemens Westinghouse and National Energy Production Corp.; simple cycle power plants for National Energy Productions Corp and Dynegy Power Corp.; Accelerator Production of Tritium for the U.S. Department of Energy; Cyrofracture Incineration Demonstration Plant for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; chiller buildings for Merck & Co.; cogeneration facilities for the University of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark, New Jersey, the Federal Development Corporation, Rutgers University and Princeton University; and cyclotron facilities at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and the Pulse Power Laboratory and Physics Laboratory for the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C. He has also served as the Project Manager/Director for many leading corporations and governmental organizations including, among others: rectangular chimney for the Korean Power Engineering Co. in South Korea; spray dry facility for Nestle Beverage Co. in New Jersey; fire restoration for Lever Brothers Co.; low level radwaste storage facility for Merck & Co.; Construction Management for the NYC School Construction Authority; and multiple landfill projects for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. Morton is a graduate of the City College of New York (Bachelor of Civil Engineering), Hunter College (BA) and the Columbia University Graduate School of Engineering (Structures), Graduate School of Architecture (City Planning and Housing), with a degree as Civil Engineer. He is a licensed professional engineer in the states of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Vermont and a licensed structural engineer in Illinois. He is also a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Structural Engineering Institute, and a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, the International Code Council and the American Institute of Steel Construction.
