Education
Class of 1977

Tulane University is a private, nonsectarian research university located in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. Founded as a public medical college in 1834, the school grew into a comprehensive university in 1847 and was eventually privatized under the endowments of Paul Tulane and Josephine Louise Newcomb in 1884. Tulane is a member of the Association of American Universities.

Class of 1976

The University of the South is known familiarly as “Sewanee” by its students, faculty, staff and friends and offers an unmatched educational experience. The university remains purposefully small and dedicated to building a sense of community. All classes are taught by professors, not graduate teaching assistants, and close faculty-student interaction ensures that each student enjoys a rich and personal educational experience. It is not unusual for students and faculty members to work shoulder to shoulder on research projects and journal articles, to meet for coffee at a local eatery, or to serve together as members of the university orchestra, volunteer fire department, and other civic groups.

Undergraduate Degree
Master of Business Administration

The A. B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University, originally the College of Commerce and Business Administration, was established in 1914 and is a founding member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the premier accrediting body for collegiate schools of business. Today, the Freeman School is a leading, internationally recognized business school with more than 2,500 students in programs spanning the globe. With innovative curricula that combine outstanding classroom instruction with distinctive experiential learning opportunities, the Freeman School is dedicated to preparing current and future business leaders to contribute positively to their organizations and their communities. In its Essential Science Indicators index, Thomson Scientific ranks the Freeman School in the top 1 percent of institutions based on citations in business and economics between January 2000 and April 2010, with 197 faculty papers collectively cited 1,864 times. Among institutions that produced at least 100 indexed papers in the field during that period, Freeman's impact score of 9.46 cites per paper places it at No. 70 of the 181 institutions in the top 1 percent.

The Florida Council of 100 is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization of business leaders, which exists to promote the economic growth of Florida and improve the economic well-being and quality of life of its citizenry. Representing more than 100 companies with over 600,000 employees, Council members have achieved a high degree of success and recognition in their business or profession; have demonstrated involvement in Florida public policy issues; and possess the personal qualities of character, personality, and leadership ability. The Council works closely with the Governor and the state agencies, the Legislature, the judicial branch, and other private organizations, to effect positive change in the state and achieve quality of life improvements for the citizens of Florida. Through our reports, position statements, policy letters, issue advocacy, and public relations, we keep state leaders and policy makers apprised of key topics relevant to today’s Florida and make recommendations for enhancing state policies and programs in ways beneficial to all Floridians. Helping us fulfill this mission are high-level civic leaders from around the state who assist the Council in an ex officio capacity. They include executive branch agency officials, the Chairman of the State Board of Education, the Commissioner of Education, presidents of public and private state colleges and universities, school district superintendents, the President of Enterprise Florida, Inc., and senior active duty military officers. The groundwork for these efforts was laid in 1961 when the Council, the first of its kind in the United States, was formed at the request of Governor Farris Bryant to provide advice to him on key Florida issues from a business perspective. To the right, you may watch Governor Bryant explain his vision for the Council. As business leaders, the members of the Council feel responsibility and have the determination, to improve Florida. The Council mission statement, adopted in 1998, sums up the goals of the members.
