Biography

Richard Sexton is a UK Knight Frank partner based full-time in Newmark Grubb Knight Frank's Manhattan headquarters. Mr. Sexton played a vital role in the formation of the Newmark Grubb Knight Frank global partnership and serves in the key role as director of international business development and liaison between US-based companies and Knight Frank's professionals worldwide. Additionally, Mr. Sexton aids European and Asian companies with their real estate needs across the US and Latin America.

Mr. Sexton brings an unparalleled array of sophisticated advisory service experience to both Newmark Grubb Knight Frank and its clients. During his 18-year real estate career, Mr. Sexton has concluded numerous successful transactions and held management positions including six years based in London, two years in Warsaw and ten years in New York. Mr. Sexton's considerable experiences in key global markets have created an extremely capable advisor in the business of international real estate.

Prior to his role with Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, Mr. Sexton was the global liaison for Grubb & Ellis and Knight Frank during their five-year strategic alliance. During this time, Mr. Sexton facilitated transaction and consultancy services for Tyco, Business Objects, Coca-Cola, Estee Lauder, British Telecom, Shopping.com, Weil Gotshal & Manges, LLP, Gillette and United Technologies Corporation, among others.

Prior to relocating to the United States, Mr. Sexton headed the Knight Frank transaction team in Poland. In this role, he exclusively represented IBM, Novell and Diebold, setting up or relocating their office/industrial operations in Warsaw. Mr. Sexton was also responsible for opening satellite Knight Frank offices in Wroclaw, Poznan and Krakow. His major achievement in Poland was closing one of the largest office transactions in Eastern and Central Europe when acting for a German developer in leasing 150,000 square feet of speculatively built offices to WBK Bank, a subsidiary of the Allied Irish Bank, in Poznan. Mr. Sexton has also worked at Richard Ellis (now CBRE) in the Greater London market. There he represented both institutional landlords and multi-national tenants in the office and industrial sectors, undertaking property management, appraisals, rating (tax) appeals, agency and tenant representation assignments.

Mr. Sexton is an active member of REBNY, CoreNet, British American Business Inc (BABi), The British Memorial Garden (honoring the British victims of 9/11) and The St. Georges Society of New York. An avid sportsman, Mr. Sexton won his college's prestigious award of "Sportsman of the Year" in his final year, for his rugby and track achievements. In New York, he continues to follow English rugby and soccer.

Mr. Sexton earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Estate Management, with an honors distinction from the Oxford Brookes University. He became a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) in 1995.

St. George’s Society of New York was founded in 1770 by English settlers for the purpose of offering advice and relief to fellow Englishmen in need or distress. Its mission today is to assist disadvantaged people of British and Commonwealth heritage living in the New York area. The Society provides two major forms of assistance, a Beneficiary Program helping elderly and disabled people, and a Scholarship Program at Lehman College (part of CUNY) supporting outstanding students with university tuition. St. George’s Society is a membership organization and our members are indispensible to the success and growth of the charity. We host a variety of events throughout the year including networking events, cocktail parties, in-store events and our largest annual fundraiser, the English Ball. The Society’s events often have a British flavor, which appeals to both to our increasingly diverse membership and to our corporate sponsors and partners. In March 2011, the Society launched GEORGE, a sub-brand for vibrant, dynamic professionals, which has hosted a number of successful networking events and attracted over 150 new members to St. George’s. GEORGE is a networking group with a charitable purpose and hosts its own large annual fundraiser known as ‘The Bash’ which features live entertainment, dinner, dancing and a British-themed auction. The Society receives no government funding and its charitable programs are primarily funded by membership dues, donations and events.
