Biography

Robert E. (Bob) Puterbaugh was born in Dayton, Ohio and raised in Lake Wales, Florida. He is a shareholder of the firm and practices in the firm’s Lakeland office. Mr. Puterbaugh’s practice includes complex trial litigation in both state and federal courts. He is the co-author of The Statute of Limitations Under RICO: Rotella and Beyond, published by the National Legal Center for the Public Interest in Washington, D.C., and has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers In America.
Mr. Puterbaugh served as a Captain the U.S. Army, representing the United States in various military, federal and state courts, as well as in international law and diplomatic matters in the Republic of Korea. He is senior counsel to the Board of Directors of Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center, one of the largest hospitals in the state of Florida. Mr. Puterbaugh has also served as a director of Barnett Bank, N.A., Polk County (now Bank of America).

Stetson University is located in DeLand, Fla., with a second campus in Gulfport, Fla. and two satellite centers. Founded in 1883 by Henry A. DeLand as the DeLand Academy and later renamed Stetson University to honor its benefactor, John B. Stetson, the university has a storied history of leadership, values and significance. The university is home to many Florida firsts, including the first collegiate newspaper, the oldest schools of business administration and music, the first college of law and was the state's first private university to integrate. The university is led by President Wendy B. Libby, supported by administrative offices which provide services and resources to students and faculty. Stetson University is home to 73 academic programs in four divisional areas and with undergraduate and graduate studies offered in many areas. The Florida Bar is the integrated bar association for the state of Florida. It is the third largest such bar association in the United States. Its duties include the regulation and discipline of attorneys. As elsewhere in the United States, persons seeking admission to the bar must pass a moral character screening, in this case administered by the Florida Board of Bar Examiners. Admission to the bar includes passing a background investigation, the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination, and the bar exam, which tests both the common law through the Multistate Bar Examination and Florida law through written state essays and state-specific multiple-choice questions. The Florida Bar is home of one of the nation's premier board certification programs. Over 5,000 members of the bar are certified in one or more of 24 legal specialty areas including civil trial, business litigation, labor and employment, and marital and family law. Board certified attorneys must submit to a rigorous peer review process, prove substantial involvement and education in the specialty field, and pass a written examination. The Florida Bar's headquarters building and annex are located in Tallahassee, three blocks from the Florida State Capitol.
