Biography

Bob Rawitch, Executive Vice President.
Media relations specialist Bob Rawitch joined Winner & Associates in 1996 following a 28-year career at the Los Angeles Times as a senior editor and reporter.

A Times editor for 15 years, he was suburban editor and later founder and executive editor of the newspaper's San Fernando Valley and Ventura County Editions. As a Metro reporter for 13 years, Bob specialized in covering governmental affairs, including politics, and education, and four years covering the U.S. District Court, the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Attorney's office in Los Angeles. He wrote extensively about the workings of the U.S. Justice System and legal issues. Twice he was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize and three times he won awards for his reporting and writing from the Los Angeles Press Club. Following his newspaper career, he served as a consultant to news media and public relations companies in the U.S. and abroad.

At Winner & Associates, Bob has provided strategic counsel, crisis communications, litigation support and communications strategies for dozens of companies, for major cities and a variety of trade associations. He has provided media and spokesperson training to scores of senior corporate executives and others. His clients have included ExxonMobil Corp., Mobil Oil Co., Shell Oil, Los Angeles World Airports, Southern California Edison, Verizon, the California Nations Indian Gaming Association, the Washington Education Association, the Los Angeles Visitors and Convention Bureau, the cities of Burbank, Vernon, Long Beach, the Port of Long Beach, Station Casinos, BLB Investors, LLC, Ares Corp. and the Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians, the Choctaw Nation, PokerStars.com and many more.

Bob is a past president of the California Society of Newspaper Editors, a former president of the California First Amendment Coalition and a former president of the California Freedom of Information Committee. He also served on the national board of the Society of Professional Journalists and maintains his extensive news media relationships.
