Biography

Rev. Roosevelt “Rosey” Grier serves as a member of the Milken Family Foundation board of trustees and as program director of community affairs. Rosey has traveled to hundreds of schools and inspired thousands of students through his involvement with the Milken Educator Awards National Notifications.

Rosey leapt into national prominence as an All-Pro defensive tackle with the New York Giants in 1955, capturing five championship titles. His fame increased when he joined the Los Angeles Rams and became the leader of the Fearsome Foursome, widely considered the best defensive line in football history. He was inducted into New Jersey’s Sports Hall of Fame in 1997.

Rosey has had a prolific career in entertainment, starring in numerous films and television shows, writing four books, and performing as a singer onstage at Carnegie Hall and other prestigious venues. He is an ordained minister, a nationally renowned motivational speaker, and the recipient of several national honors and White House invitations from various presidents of the United States. He also serves on the board of directors of the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
