Experience

Scott is one of the firm’s global Telecommunications, Media and Technology sector leaders. He has extensive experience in corporate/M&A work and in a wide range of corporate finance transactions and is the only corporate lawyer in the region listed as “Tier I” in Chambers Global (2012) and in IFLR 1000 (2011) as a “Leading Lawyer” in the corporate/M&A field. Scott has been based in the Dubai office since its inception in 2006 and has over 12 years experience in the Middle East.

Transactions of significance include advising:

* Bahrain Telecommunications Company B.S.C. on its acquisition of Monaco and Islands assets of Cable & Wireless Communications, with a total deal value of $1.025 bn (awarded “Deal of the Year 2013” by TMT Finance Middle East)
* Saudi Oger/Oger Telecom on its US$6.55bn acquisition of a majority stake in Turk Telecom
* MTC on its US$3.4bn acquisition of Celtel International (pan-Africa acquisition)
* DBSAME on the acquisition of Dun & Bradstreet business in Middle East, South Asia and Africa (over 30 jurisdictions)
* Dubai International Capital on its acquisitions of stakes in KEF Holdings (UAE) and Industrial Development Bank (Jordan)
* Mumtalakat on the proposed sale of a significant stake in Batelco (six regional jurisdictions)
* Emirates Bank International on its merger with National Bank of Dubai (US$12bn)
* Lloyds Bank on the disposal of its UAE business to HSBC
* Investment Corporation of Dubai and Dubai Aluminium on the merger of Dubal and EMAL to create Emirates Global Aluminium.
Once completed, Emirates Global Aluminium will have an aggregate enterprise value of more than USD $15 billion and will be the fifth-largest global aluminium company by production
* Emaar Properties PJSC on its proposed merger with global property assets of Dubai Holding (aborted)
* Barwa on its acquisition with Alaqaria (Qatar – US$3.5 bn)
* International Bank of Qatar on its proposed merger with Al Khaliji
