Schwarzman Scholars, founded by American financier Stephen A. Schwarzman, founder of asset management firm, Blackstone Group, is an international scholarship program announced on April 2013, designed to "educate the next generation of global leaders". The program is intended to launch in June 2016, upon completion of Schwarzman College at Tsinghua University. The college was designed by Robert A.M. Stern, Dean of the Yale School of Architecture and will host 200 elite scholars annually from the US, China and other countries around the world for a one-year Master’s Degree at Tsinghua University in Beijing.

From a top-down perspective, Blackstone Alternative Asset Management (BAAM) focuses on positioning funds to capitalize on market opportunities through focused research and allocation of resources. From a bottom-up perspective, the firm seeks to build deep relationships with underlying hedge fund managers that are strengthened by their investment professionals' relevant experience in the financial markets, as well as the Blackstone network in other alternative asset classes.Their funds' strategies generally allocate capital to a diversified group of portfolio (i.e., hedge fund) managers that invest or trade in a wide variety of securities and other instruments, including, but not limited to, equities and fixed-income securities, currencies, commodities, futures contracts, options and other derivative instruments, all of which may be listed or unlisted, rated or unrated, distressed or publicly or privately issued.
