Biography

Senator-elect Tillis was elected in November to represent North Carolina in the U.S. Senate. He currently serves as the Speaker of the North Carolina House of Representatives.

Senator-elect Tillis was first elected to the state legislature in 2006 and became Speaker in 2010. During his time in the state legislature, he worked to enact a restructuring of the state’s tax code and served on several committees including Finance and Financial Institutions.

Before serving in the North Carolina House of Representatives, Senator-elect Tillis was a businessman. He also was a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he advised North Carolina financial institutions and corporations.

Senator-elect Tillis holds a BS in technology management from University of Maryland, University College. He and his wife, Susan, live in Cornelius, North Carolina, and have two children.
