Since World War II, it has generally been known as the school for Army majors, though the College contains other schools and it educates officers from other military services and from other countries.

Master of Science in Strategic Intelligence

The National Intelligence University (NIU) in Washington D.C., formerly referred to as the National Defense Intelligence College (NDIC), trains students how to meet the country's national security needs. NIU has specially-designed research and study programs in Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (TS/SCI). The school offers certificate programs as well as undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Denial and Deception, Intelligence Studies, Strategic Intelligence, and Technology Intelligence. Full-time and part-time programs are available. Coursework trains students to think critically and independently, especially in situations that could impact national security. Many NIU graduates end up with lucrative careers in high-level agencies such as the CIA and NSA. NIU also hosts regular on-campus events featuring special authors and presenters who discuss fascinating and relevant topics including: energy, intelligence support in fighting terrorism, international engagement, and spying. Those who are interested in becoming students at NIU must be U.S. citizens and have graduated from high school. Additionally, they must be federal government employees or members of the armed forces with TS/SCI security clearance. The school will assess GPA and completed coursework to determine enrollment eligibility. Military personnel may be able to obtain tuition assistance in the form of financial aid through G.I. bill educational benefits.
