Biography

Rebecca J. Rowe, a daughter of Dr. Valerie Rowe and Dr. John Rowe of New York, was married yesterday to Marc C. Small, the son of Joline Small and Michael Small of Acton, Mass. Ms. Rowe, 28, is keeping her name. She graduated from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Me., and is a candidate for a Ph.D. in evolutionary biology at the University of Chicago. Her mother is the coordinator of the master's degree program for elementary school teachers at the Tarrytown, N.Y., campus of Fordham University, where she is also a clinical associate professor of education.

Like its 25 sister schools in the Cristo Rey Network, CRNYHS offers students from low-income families a quality education and real-life work experience that are designed to prepare them for college and successful careers thereafter. CRNYHS is a collaborative project of lay men and women, and representatives of three religious congregations: the Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus, the De La Salle Christian Brothers, and the Jesuits.

The National Museum of the American Indian is part of the Smithsonian Institution and is dedicated to the life, languages, literature, history, and arts of the Native Americans of the Western Hemisphere. It has three facilities: the National Museum of the American Indian on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., which opened on September 21, 2004, on Fourth Street and Independence Avenue, Southwest; the George Gustav Heye Center, a permanent museum in New York City; and the Cultural Resources Center, a research and collections facility in Suitland, Maryland. The foundations for the present collections were first assembled in the former Museum of the American Indian in New York City, which was established in 1916, and which became part of the Smithsonian in 1990.
