Biography

William Chinery, Managing Director, is Country Head - Canada of BlackRock Canada. He is responsible for developing and supporting relationships with institutional and retail clients and sits on the Board of Directors of BlackRock Canada. Mr. Chinery's service with the firm dates back to 2001, including his years with Barclays Global Investors (GÇ£BGIGÇ¥), which merged with BlackRock, Inc. (GÇ£BlackRockGÇ¥) in 2009. At BGI, he was most recently the head of the Americas Institutional Business. In this role he was responsible for managing the sales and service effort in the US, Canada, and Latin America focusing on the defined benefit, defined contribution and treasury markets for corporate, public, and Taft-Hartley plans, as well as central banks, endowments, and foundations. Prior to joining BGI, he spent six years with YMG Capital Management, as Senior Vice-President of Quantitative Products. Previously, he was the Canadian practice leader and worldwide partner with the Mercer Investment Consulting practice. Mr. Chinery is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and Fellow of the Society of Actuaries. He earned a BMath degree, with honours in mathematics and actuarial science from the University of Waterloo in 1978. He is on the Board of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.
